Welcome to the LightCube OS Project

LightCube OS is a GNU/Linux distribution with the aim of producing a lightweight, secure and stable LAMP application server. It is hosted, sponsored and initially developed by  LightCube Solutions, LLC, a private consulting company. However, LightCube OS itself is an open, public project, and we welcome assistance from interested volunteers. Currently, the method of obtaining a clean build environment is based upon  LFS and its associated projects. Also, several rpm insights and methods have been adapted from work done by Dan Nicholson, a former LFS developer.

LightCube OS is under heavy development and has not yet released an initial alpha version. However, development is ongoing and a fully packaged working system for alpha testing is not far away. For a list of outstanding TODO items, see the list of active tickets.

Getting Involved

There's plenty of work to do and we welcome your help. At the moment, we need to finalize what core guidelines should cover the development process and what will make us stand out among the many distros. For a brief discussion on this topic, see here:  http://www.lightcubesolutions.com/blog/?p=78 To get involved you'll probably want to at least subscribe to the dev mailing list above. Feel free to post any ideas, comments or suggestions there.
